FLUX — V&A Pavilion

Flux is a pavilion for the Victoria and Albert Museum conceived, in collaboration with Miminat Designs, as a physical manifestation of the invisible material fluctuations of the Anthropocene. Rather than resisting this instability, the pavilion invites visitors to confront and inhabit it, transforming the turbulence of the technosphere into something immersive, playful and unexpectedly beautiful.

Set within the V&A courtyard, the pavilion is formed from industrial aluminium sheets, welded and bolted to a concealed structure so that they appear suspended in motion. Clear acrylic planes are interspersed between them, carrying abstract projections of light that move across metal, acrylic and water. Reflections and refractions dissolve the boundaries of the structure, placing the visitor momentarily within the ‘eye of the storm’, an architecture shaped by the fluctuations of our own making.
